The vision for Hillcrest Pre-Primary School is to provide affordable pre-school education in a loving environment where children can grow and learn in all aspects of their development. 

Hillcrest Pre-Primary  will achieve this by providing a stimulating, child-centred programme nurturing good old fashioned values.

  • Grade 000 to Grade R
  • Qualified/Experienced Teachers
  • Registered Grade R Programme
  • After School Care Facility to 5pm
  • Holiday Care 7am – 5pm

The school motto is “FREE TO BE ME” and children are encouraged to do just that within secure boundaries!


Hillcrest Pre-Primary first opened its doors in 1978 when it began operating out of the St Dominic’s Church Hall. The school quickly grew and moved to its current location in 1981. Today Hillcrest Pre-Primary has 138 children in six different classes and a host of exciting facilities including two well-equipped playgrounds, a fantasy playhouse, a creativity area, a large cycle track and a sports field. It is a feeder school for many of the schools in the Upper Highway area including


Hillcrest Pre-Primary is located on a large piece of land in central Hillcrest. The bright and airy school building accommodates six large classrooms, two toilet blocks, an additional double sized multi-purpose classroom area, a centrally located creative area, the kitchen, staff room and administration offices.

Outside there are two large well-equipped playgrounds, a cycle track, a sports field, the fantasy playhouse, two huge covered sandpits and the waterplay tables.

This is all complemented by abundant parking.
