The Game Park

Phezulu offers our visitors an hour scenic Game drive into the Valley of a Thousand Hills. Game drives start from 9:00 in the morning and goes out every hour on the hour until 15:00. You will be taken by one of our experienced guides in a covered 4×4 vehicle where you will learn about the local fauna and flora whilst enjoying the amazing views. On the drive, you will see wildebeest, impala, blesbok, zebra and giraffe and a variety of bird species. Please note this is a 4×4 experience and not suitable for babies under 6 months, older people and women pregnant longer than 6 months.

Crocodile & Snake Park

Phezulu boasts a Crocodile and Snake park where our guests will be taken on a tour by knowledgeable guides. They will learn interesting facts about crocodiles and snakes, as well as meet Ramesis our 90-year-old Nile crocodile and have a hands-on experience with Cleo our Burmese python who weighs in at 42 kilograms.

PheZulu Snake Park has snake species including African Rock Pythons • Green Mamba • Black Mamba • Boomslang • Vine Snake • Puff Adder • Spitting Cobra • Rinkhals • Forest Cobra • Egyptian Cobra • Bush Snake • Night Adder • Spotted House Snake • Herald Snake • Southern Brown Egg Eater • Brown House Snake • Olive House Snake • Burmese Python • Anaconda • and Boa Constrictor.

Zulu Dancing & Culture Experience

At Phezulu village, the world famous Gasa clan has over the last 30 years, allowed visitors to Phezulu the opportunity to savour the taste and feel the rhythm of Africa. Visitors are taken into traditional beehive shaped thatched huts, where the various artefacts, beliefs and rituals are explained, giving foreigners an insight into the fascinating Zulu culture. The Zulu dancing show is impressive with the dancers in their traditional garb, showing off their skills with grace, agility and humour- a truly unforgettable experience!
Our show times are 10:00, 11:30, 14:00 and 15:30.

Curio Shop

When you step into our shop you find almost every African artefact imaginable. For as far as the eye can see, dive into the festival of shapes and colours, from the smallest to largest African statues.

FROM DURBAN – N3:
– Take N3 toll road to Pietermaritzburg.
– Go through the Marianhill toll plaza.
– The first off ramp left – Assagay/Shongweni/Hillcrest, take this off-ramp.
– At STOP street turn right into Kassier Road over N3 freeway ± 5km.
– At T-Junction (Set of robots) turn left, this is Old Main Road (R103) ± 7km.
– Phezulu is on your right-hand side.FROM NORTH OR SOUTH COAST:
– Go on N3 to Pietermaritzburg toll road.
– Take N3 toll road to Pietermaritzburg.
– Go through the Marianhill toll plaza.
– The first off ramp left – Assagay/Shongweni/Hillcrest, take this off-ramp.
– At STOP street turn right into Kassier Road over N3 freeway ± 5km.
– At T-Junction (Set of robots) turn left, this is Old Main Road (R103) ± 7km.

FROM PIETERMARITZBURG:
– Take N3 toll road to Durban.
– Take left-hand side off-ramp marked Cato Ridge.
– Continue along this road until you come to a left turn marked Inchanga/Valley of 1000 hills ± 8km.
– You will reach a sign marked PHEZULU Safari Park,
turn left, into Phezulu grounds.
